Review
The huge changes to Yamahas 05 YZs may lead you to believe the motocross effort soaked up all the R&D, however its like there was lots left for the off-road bikes moreover. Yamahas newly released WRs feature a slew of changes, each major and minor, aimed toward making lighter, a lot of agile and a lot of user-friendly machines. we have a tendency to got our grubby paws on the newly released WR 250 and 450 at Californias Hungry Valley and immediately headed out for a few bushwhacking.
The biggest changes Yamaha emphasised were a lowered center of gravity and lowered seat height for each the 250 and 450. WRs have a history of being tall and top-heavy, however the 05s are a marked improvementit sounds like the chronic drawback has been solved. The WRs currently carry their (lighter) weight abundant lower. Yamaha raised the steering head tube, however the fork is that the same length, that the engine and a lot of importantly the crankshaft are carried lower. and the shock is 3mm shorter, that balances out the bike and makes it lower overall compared to 2004. Overall, the seat height was decreased by 10mm on the 250, and 20mm on the 450. YZ shrouds and radiators complete the package by slimming down each bikes. each models were rather more willing to vary directions in tight conditions. it absolutely was abundant easier to induce leaned over in corners and maneuver through thick, tight brush.

2005 Yamaha WR450 options a lot of refined power, giving it easier roll-on.We did not truly take a look at the bikes in showroom stock condition. we have a tendency to replaced the WR throttle stopsthat limit the throttle gap to concerning halfwaywith YZ units that enable full throttle travel. we have a tendency to conjointly removed the new-for-2005 small finish baffle and unplugged the gray wire underneath the tank, since that was the method we have a tendency to rode our 2004 bikes, and it absolutely was the foremost equal comparison. The WR250F received a rise in power whereas the main focus on the 450 was to refine its huge power for easier roll-on. The 250 has a lot of bark and good bottom-end grunt, however best showcases its new power on the highest endit screams. The 450s bark was partially calmed by reducing the compression ratio. It still has huge power, however currently comes in a very a lot of manageable package. The lower center of gravity as well as the smoother low-to-mid delivery created huge enhancements within the 450s agility.
The WRs received new 48mm forks, though not identical KYB fork because the different 05 blue bikes. The beefy new front suspension is far a lot of rigid than the plush feel of the 04s. With the stock settings, the front finish was too stiffpushing in sand washes and dancing around on rocks or bumpy hard-pack. we have a tendency to softened up the compression between 2 and 6 clicks betting on the dimensions and speed of the rider. we have a tendency to conjointly went out 2 clicks on the fork rebound. The action of the fork and also the steering precision of the bike is incredibly closely tied to the sag. youll be wanting to use caution to line it between a hundred and a hundred and five millimeters. The shock soaked up chop fairly well, and pounded through whoops higher than ever.

The WR450 is currently inexperienced sticker legal; anticipate identical for the 250 in 06.Yamaha conjointly addressed EPA an CARB laws in their re-design. The new USFS-approved aluminum exhaust with spark arrestor is Federal noise level legal at 82dba. With the baffle out, it still registers underneath 96dba, meeting California laws. The 450s newly designed air induction system conjointly makes it green-sticker prepared (a much-welcomed amendment for Californians bored with being finish off the moment rangers catch a glimpse of blue plastic). Expect the 250 to be inexperienced sticker-able in 06.
Look for the complete take a look at on each Yamaha WRs within the February issue of Dirt Rider Magazine.

The Aprilia Dorsoduro stirred up the maxi supermoto segment, but the Dorsoduro Factory goes further. A refined bike, even lighter and more efficient, whose mission is "fun". A real standard special, a concentration of performance and technology.
The word "Factory" is never used just by chance in Aprilia. In the language of the enthusiasts it refers to elite bikes fitted out with the best technology and made with the best materials. Light, agile, powerful, the Dorsoduro Factory doesnt belie its name; its heart is the latest 750 dual cylinder and it boasts technical solutions unique for this segment. Thanks to the advanced electronic management, the compact Aprilia 90° V twin engine offers extremely high performance levels, similar to those of much bigger engines.
The chassis, as becomes the Aprilia tradition, is without rivals in this category. The Dorsoduro Factory exploits the technology that Aprilia has developed, dominating the Supermoto competitions with the incredible SXV that won 5 world championships between 2004 and 2008.
The chassis, with its tubular frame and aluminium structure, is one of the distinctive elements of the Dorsoduro Factory - a common thread that unites the highly specialised Aprilia racing models with the most exciting twin cylinder supermoto on the market.
With its essential design, characterised by the considerable use of carbon fibre for the top structure, Aprilia Dorsoduro Factory boasts components, technical fittings and trim features of the highest levels. Brembo 4-piston radial callipers, Wave discs, oil-bath hydraulic clutch, fully adjustable gas-operated single shock absorber with separate tank, a sophisticated multi-adjustable fork, Ride by Wire “Tri-Map” and Matrix instrument panel with on-board computer - these are the elements that help to make this bike unique.
The details of the special Aprilia Dorsoduro Factory features:
Carbon fibre top structure (ducts, ignition unit cover, front mudguard);
Special graphics with red chassis, black plate, exclusive saddle and black exhaust covers;
90° V2 engine, four valves, double overhead camshaft, liquid cooling;
Second generation Ride by Wire “Tri-Map” technology;
Modular tubular frame/aluminium chassis - ultralight and with excellent torsional rigidity;
Aluminium swingarm with multi-adjustable gas-operated lateral shock absorber;
Multi-adjustable 43mm upside down fork;
Brembo front brake callipers with radial connection, combined with 320mm Wave discs.
Design: Funstyle
The simple, elegant dress never veils but highlights the technical elements (chassis and engine) of the Dorsoduro Factory, turning the particularly aggressive aesthetics into one of its strong points. The new colours and carbon fibre top structure underline the sporty nature of a project that proudly shares the Factory name with the sportiest Aprilia bikes. Aprilia Dorsoduro Factory is incredibly sleek and agile, managing to create an immediate harmony with the rider. The long, flat saddle facilitates those rider movements typical of the supermoto; the Dorsoduro Factory backs up the rider at all times. The compact, curvy tail fairing also envelops the dual exhaust: a solution that not only creates a really aggressive design feel, but also excellent symmetry in the proportions and weight distribution. The hand guards, derived from the Supermoto SXV, display a sleek style and effectively protect the levers against any accidental contact.
Engine: Funtwin
The Aprilia 750 90° V twin engine represents the current state of the art for this type of motor drive. The electronic management is the cream of this engine, which uses a second generation Ride by Wire system equipped with triple mapping.
The three options - Sport, Touring and Rain - can be selected while actually riding, thanks to a gas closed command on the handlebar; they radically modify the character of the Dorsoduro Factory, offering an aggressive, immediate response in Sport mode, more gentle (ideal for tourism) in Touring mode, and extremely safe (even in conditions of poor road-holding) in Rain mode. Thanks to the electronic and mechanical technology used, the Aprilia dual cylinder reaches 92hp at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 82 Nm at 4,500 rpm: values that put the Dorsoduro in direct competition with bikes of a much higher engine capacity.
There is also a special version of the Dorsoduro Factory for newly qualified riders, limited to 25 kW. The electronic throttle grip management system (Ride By Wire) avoids the need to reduce power delivery over the whole supply range (as happens on less advanced models), maintaining exactly the same delivery as for its full-power “sibling”, up to the maximum allowed level. In this way, the Aprilia Dorsoduro Factory offers an improved acceleration performance compared with the equivalent 25 kW versions of the competitors, ensuring non-stop riding pleasure.
Chassis: Funbalance
Aprilia bikes have always been considered a point of reference for the excellence of their chassis. The Dorsoduro Factory certainly doesnt belie this tradition. On the contrary, its sophisticated suspension systems and racing brakes emphasise it, making it the most effective and well-balanced maxi supermoto on the market.
Everything about this bike has been designed to aid the rider during heavy handling. The agile, light chassis was designed with an eye to ergonomics, so the Dorsoduro Factory is perfect for any rider, allowing them all to take full advantage, in every situation, of the high limits of a real fun-to-ride bike.
The chassis exploits the most of the notable expertise acquired by Aprilia during competitions, fully drawing on the experience gained on the mixed structures used in the Supermoto world championship. The upper part, with its tubular steel frame, is joined to the large, aluminium side plates through special high-resistance bolts. The resulting structure is extremely rigid yet light - the best solution for curbing the pounding power of the Aprilia twin cylinder engine.
The lateral, strongly tilting position of the new gas-operated shock absorber leaves plenty of precious space to obtain the optimal conformation of the exhaust manifolds, without altering the length of the bike and without applying any thermal stress to the shock absorber itself. The aluminium swingarm is sized to support the asymmetric stress caused by the lateral positioning of the shock absorber. It was purposely conceived for a supermoto like the Aprilia Dorsoduro, and sums up the need for torsional rigidity and elasticity - elements essential for obtaining precise support and the right riding feeling in the transitory phases.
Suspsnsion: Funfeeling
The suspension area of the Dorsoduro Factory is entirely new. The Sachs 43mm upside down fork with shell-cast brackets to support the radial callipers features adjustable spring preload and hydraulic brake rebound damping. Its a highly sophisticated element which, apart from offering endless adjustment possibilities, also ensures optimal smoothness and a travel (160mm) in line with the supermoto philosophy. Both steering plates are forged, and the upper one is also anodised to confirm the excellent level of the Dorsoduro trim features.
The new gas-operated lateral shock absorber with separate tank is directly pivoted to the swingarm, as per the cantilever layout, with adjustable spring preload and hydraulic compression and rebound damping. Its a highly sophisticated element which allows more experienced riders to reach top bike performance levels, even on the race track.
The rear wheel stroke is 160mm, again in line with the supermoto philosophy that aims for an effective, controlled suspension but with a long stroke.
Brakes: Funbraking
The best of current braking technology can be found on the Aprilia Dorsoduro Factory: the front system uses the new Brembo 4 piston radial callipers. The 320mm floating “Wave” discs are really lightweight, ensuring shorter stopping times and emphasising the aggressive braking style with a supersports look, in keeping with the overall Dorsoduro appearance.
The 240mm rear disc is also of the “Wave” type and is braked via a single piston calliper. Both the front and rear systems use metal braided brake pipes derived from the aeronautical sector which eliminate the irritating "lung" effect of the conventional pipes, ensuring the maximum braking precision.
Components
The supermoto bikes are essential, sometimes even spartan. But this doesnt mean you have to renounce top class contents or painstaking attention to detail. Also in this case, Aprilia stands out from its competitors with class-leading fittings:
CARBON FIBRE TOP STRUCTURE: Like the best Aprilia Factory bikes, also the Dorsoduro makes great use of carbon fibre for both mudguards, the ducts and the key unit fairing. A choice that further underlines the bikes elegance.
MATRIX INSTRUMENT PANEL: of the mixed type (analogue-digital), it receives all the information from the CAN line and becomes an integral part of the self-diagnosis system as it is fitted with memory.Particularly compact, with a modern design and considerably reduced weight. All the functions are commutable and easily accessed via a command on the handlebar. The LED lighting (white in the analogue area and red in the digital one) can be adjusted to three levels.
BICONICAL SECTION ALUMINIUM HANDLEBARS: It brings quite clearly to mind those of the competitive superbikes. An incredibly light component, designed to guarantee top dynamic bike control.
HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED CLUTCH: It allows precise braking every time, along with smooth exemplary command and handy self-adjustment (without the need for any maintenance).

2011 Honda CBR 125R Review
In addition to the different color variations between model years, the bike performed relatively well in the showroom without modification. But with sales flattening CBR125R, it was time to rejuvenate the small sport bike, so in 2011 he received a facelift important.

Also new is a bit edgy with exhaust, CBR1000RR-replica muffler comprising a catalytic converter. As the CBR250R, the 125 is the muffler is equipped with a protective cover that is much cheaper to replace in a reversal of the entire system.

The changes mentioned above have become a new CBR little boy toy, like a real instrument, such as bicycle riding. The longer wheelbase allows for greater ease of use broad, wide tires tend to remove the bike to fall earlier in the curves, while increasing stability and traction.
We had the opportunity to drive a motorcycle Roebling Road Raceway in Georgia, and it really feels more like a real bike than its predecessor. Management was more neutral, and to plant, and it was easier to move around the wheel improved ergos. Wheel appears to remain relatively small, even compared to the CBR250R, but it breathes a lot of significant presence than in the past.

Its 125cc liquid-cooled two-valve single is the same, even if the EFI mapping was revised to improve the bottom-end response. Two tooth crown is also added to reduce the overall acceleration of the better transmission, but 21 mm shorter than combat gear longer than the rear wheel.

The changes to the bike was considered CBR125R Challenge organizers to give an unfair advantage at the track in the previous model, and it will not be eligible to compete in the series of the season to come.
On the bright side for riders of the road, fuel consumption is claimed to be improved by seven to eight percent, which when combined with the largest fuel tank gives a theoretical range of cruise about 335 miles.

Of course, when you consider that most runners who are interested in CBR125R is probably right out of high school and a summer job to pay for additional studies CAN $ 1,000 U.S. dollars go a long way, not mention the money savings of the insurance cycle, which falls in the range less than premiums.

How well the new CBR125R is not yet visible, but one thing is certain, has carved a niche in the motorcycle world, or at least north of the border.

2011 Buell 1190RS Racing Review

But anyone familiar with Erik Buell tenacious always knew I would see him and his influence on another streetbike. It was only a matter of time.
Well, that time has become the Expo weekend Powersports Dealer in Indianapolis, Indiana, when Mr. Buell made his 1190RS streetbike again.
"Theyre so deep!" Motorcycle.com said during the debut of the bike, a mixture of euphoria and exhaustion, her face painted.
After Harley-Davidson has killed the Buell Motorcycle Company, Buell has restricted the construction of Streetbike motorcycle competition based solely on the construction of previous production motorcycles. This agreement has been completed.
Vision to produce a Buell sport bike U.S. enters a new chapter with 1190RS, a serious development in the countryside bike racing 1190RR private during the 2010 season with the AMA Superbike pilot Geoff May
Buell RS is covered with fresh new skin, now a real fairing and a new sleek design and cutting edge carbon fiber. His nose is very sharp, with a pair of projector headlights lens over the other similar to the Ducati 999, but a simpler layout.

Speaking of magnesium wheels RS is very special. Magnesium alloys are generally not used wheel Streetbike pounding from bumps and potholes can damage the metal relatively rigid and brittle.

Costly efforts to reduce weight also included the adoption of a lithium ion battery, helping to bring the total mass of less than 400 pounds (wet, but without fuel).

The cast aluminum frame looks outwardly similar to the 1125R, but is actually a new design, a new swingarm, which incorporates a chain drive instead of belt 1125R.
Gone are the awkward double-side-mounted radiators, which made it seem 1125R fat RADS replaced by a twin engine oil cooler in front of the sandwiching near the vacuum pump.
Buell continues his predilection for a front disc brake a little different now with 8-piston Nissin increased carbon through dual-entry fiber to deliver cool air to help heat the hangars. Its CDE has integrated its racebike since mid-last season.
No longer having to build bikes to suit a price level, Buell has equipped the RS high-end componentry. The top-shelf Ohlins fork and shock handle suspension duties, while billet aluminum is used to control foot and triple clamps.

The dealer is the next step in the right RBE. Buell says he does not care what brand (s) if the dealer sells at the moment, but he insists that the passion for sport bikes. Initially, the EBR 1190RSs first sold by the operation of the Buell East Troy, Wisconsin, located on the corner of the former factory Buell.
Buell is well known for his endless dedication and hard work, but has again taken to another level. "I worked harder today than I ever dreamed," he said. "Im really strange feeling manic."

"There are lots of options," he said of what could be next, including the ability to design new engines and the bike cold.
1190R-platform development continues at the racetrack with a rider may Geoff test machine to another season in AMA Superbike competition.
Meanwhile, we hope to have a walk in the 1190RS soon as possible. Is there snow on the way to America ...?
